about our equipping ministry

The mission of CCV’s Equipping Ministry is instructing and inspiring people to live out the truth of God’s Word.

How does the Bible speak to us today?  Close to 2000 years after the last words were written, God’s Word still speaks clearly to humanity about the truth of who God is and how to relate to him through faith in Jesus.  For this reason, learning and listening to God’s Word is critical to people’s spiritual growth.  Jesus once said, “If you know the truth, the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32)  An abundant life of freedom from deception and self-centered living is what biblical equipping is meant to produce.  As Paul wrote, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man
(or woman) of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16)  This is the ministry focus of CCV's Biblical Equipping Ministry team, led by Pastor Kevin Shoemaker.

Contrary to popular opinion, the Bible is not a dry and outdated history book.  It’s His Story, that is, the inspired story of God’s interaction with mankind over the course of time.  The storyline of the Bible follows the plot of how God planned from the beginning to draw men and women into relationship with himself despite their selfishness and unbelief.  It invites us, and challenges us, to draw near to God in faith, and to trust his plan and his advice for our lives.  As we listen to and learn his Word,  we find our thoughts and actions being conformed to God’s will for us.    We find, as Jesus said, that by living out his Word our lives are built on a solid foundation that actually enhances them.  To "build your house on the solid ground" is to hear God's Word and put it into practice so that the storms of life won't destroy it. (Matthew 7:24-28)

All of us are capable and encouraged to read and study the Bible personally, but some among us are gifted and called to teach the Bible.  For most people, listening and learning are often facilitated by the instruction and inspiration of others.  This is a high calling.  Those who teach God's Word are expected to prove themselves as God’s “workmen” by “correctly handling the Word of Truth”. (2 Timothy 2:15)

At CCV, our Biblical Equipping ministry team is made up of those who have a passion and gifting to communicate God’s Word to others in practical and inspirational ways.  This may involve helping shape or deliver our Sunday morning messages, or other avenues for instructing people, like classes or seminars.  Our aim is bringing the Word of God to life.
